Dish Network Corporation has spent over $240,000 in the second quarter of this financial year to lobby for digital television transition, programming and several other issues. The satellite TV giant has also lobbied the Congress to make the government’s converter box coupon to go their way. This is the way in which Dish Network plans to increase their business.
The government, by this bill, will be giving out $40 coupons to consumers who want to upgrade to digital TV. They have to use this money to buy converter boxes which will enable them to watch these digital signals on their analogue TV. The consumers will be requiring a converter box, with the Federal law banning the use of any analogue signals after February, 2009.
